For the Béchamel Sauce:
-
- 1 oz butter
- 50 ml milk

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a pan, adding grated onion, carrot, and crushed garlic. Cook until softened, seasoning with salt and black pepper.
- Add ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Stir in tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, oregano, and red wine. Add canned tomatoes and break them up with a spoon.
- Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer, cooking for about 30 minutes. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add milk and ground nutmeg, whisking continuously until thickened.
- To assemble, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of an oven-safe dish. Layer lasagna sheets on top, followed by a layer of béchamel sauce. Repeat with meat sauce and pasta sheets, ending with a final layer of béchamel sauce and a sprinkle of grated cheese.
