- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices of Swiss or gruyère cheese
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Optional: 1/4 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and olive oil. Stir in sliced onions, sugar, and balsamic vinegar. Cook for 20 minutes until onions are caramelized.
